Directed by Pradeep Maddali, the series features Nagababu, Getup Srinu, and Raviteja Nannimala in important roles. While the premise feels fresh and quirky, the execution turns out to be a mixed bag.
Story Overview
Set in the village of Mahadeva Pattanam, the story revolves around Gajapathi Raju, played by Nagababu, who treats his prized fighting rooster “Salaar Raju” like a family member. Just before the Sankranti cockfight celebrations, the rooster suddenly disappears under mysterious circumstances.
The investigation is handed over to SI Ravi and Constable Mohan, portrayed by Raviteja Nannimala and Getup Srinu. At the same time, several villagers begin falling sick unexpectedly, creating panic across the village. As the series progresses, hidden crimes, suspicious activities, and dark secrets begin to unfold.
What Works In The Series
The biggest strength of Memu Copulam is undoubtedly the comic chemistry between Getup Srinu and Raviteja Nannimala. Their innocent police investigation scenes generate genuine laughs in several episodes. Some of the rural-style dialogues and confusion-based comedy sequences work naturally and keep the mood entertaining.
Nagababu delivers a solid performance and brings authenticity to the village head character. The rural backdrop has been captured nicely, and the idea of building a crime mystery around a missing fighting rooster feels unique for a Telugu OTT series.
Supporting actors like Siri Parvathi, Rithu Chowdary, Charan Lakkaraju, and Keeriti Damaraju perform their roles effectively. The mystery surrounding villagers falling ill and the black magic angle create some curiosity in the latter half.
Where The Series Falls Short
Despite having an interesting setup, the screenplay feels stretched across six episodes. Several scenes move slowly, making the narration uneven at times. While some comedy scenes land well, others appear forced and repetitive.
The suspense factor also lacks the intensity expected from a crime mystery drama. The twists in the climax fail to deliver a strong payoff, and the absence of a memorable antagonist weakens the overall impact.
Subplots involving romance and media investigation do not contribute much to the story and occasionally distract from the main plotline.

Director Pradeep Maddali deserves credit for attempting a different rural crime-comedy concept, but the screenplay could have been tighter. The cinematography by Kishore Boyidapu effectively captures the village atmosphere, while Saketh Komanduri’s background score supports the comedy portions reasonably well.
Editing could have been sharper, especially during the slower episodes. Production values remain decent throughout the series.
